CENTOGENE Japan K.K. is the Japanese affiliate of CENTOGENE, a Germany-based company specializing in rare and neurodegenerative diseases. We use multiomic analysis, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, and the CENTOGENE Biodatabank of global clinical and genetic data to provide genetic testing for healthcare institutions, contract analysis for research organizations, and patient finding, stratification, biomarker discovery and development support for pharma companies. |

Our core technology platform combines whole genome sequencing (WGS), whole exome sequencing (WES), disease-specific NGS panels, RNA analysis and biomarker testing. By integrating clinical information, family history, phenotypic data and sequencing results, we support expert variant interpretation and reporting in rare diseases, neurological disorders, hereditary cancer and reproductive genetics. We also provide WES/WGS-based contract analysis for research institutions and patient identification, disease stratification, biomarker discovery, real-world data use and clinical trial support services for pharmaceutical companies. In Japan, we aim to implement advanced genomic analysis through service delivery to hospitals, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies and laboratory partners.

Highlights

In January 2026, CENTOGENE established its Japanese entity and began preparing market entry for rare disease and genetic testing services, while expanding pharma support services. Activities include preparing product materials for healthcare institutions, sharing information through academic meetings and seminars, preparing a registered clinical laboratory in Japan, building workflows for quality control, sample receipt, analysis requests and result reporting, and hiring specialized personnel.
