Mission/Background :
Gellycle Co., Ltd. is a University of Tokyo spin-off biotech company that develops medical and industrial applications of Tetra-gel, a hydrogel technology developed in Professor Takamasa Sakai's laboratory at the University of Tokyo. Building on Tetra-gel's high biocompatibility and its world-leading ability to freely control physical properties such as gelation time, degradation time, stiffness and mesh size, we are developing hemostatic agents, anti-adhesion barriers, embolic agents, radiotherapy spacers, ophthalmic surgical aids, regenerative medicine materials and drug delivery systems (DDS), aiming to create a new therapeutic approach called "Gel Medicine." With a platform business model, we develop multiple products in parallel and also apply Tetra-gel in biotechnology, industry and agriculture.

Technology & Business

Our core technology, Tetra-gel, is a hydrogel with a homogeneous polymer network formed from four-arm PEG, enabling precise control of gel properties that is difficult with conventional hydrogels. Using it, we are developing hemostatic agents, anti-adhesion barriers, embolic agents, radiotherapy spacers, ophthalmic surgical aids, regenerative medicine materials and DDS, and are also applying it in biotechnology, industry and agriculture.
In joint projects, we design gel properties such as gelation time, stiffness and degradation for each partner's application and work together toward patents and commercialization via samples and prototypes. We have carried out joint R&D with universities and with medical device, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and cosmetics companies.
We are now seeking joint research and co-development partners in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, industry and agriculture, and welcome your inquiries.
